I have the good fortune to live very nearby the only Maronite church in my state. Having attended liturgy there on many occasions, I have developed a great fondness for Middle Eastern Catholic music. This cd of chants in the Maronite traditon is spellbindingly beautiful. There is no finer voice perfoming these glorious chants anywhere in the world today than Sr. Marie Keyrouz. Sr. Marie's voice is blissfully reverent & prayerful in these chants celebrating the Birth, Passion & Resurrection of our Lord. At a time when western Gregorian chant is garnering renewed interest thanks to Pope Benedict XVI's call for wider use of the traditional Tridentine Mass, worshippers and choral music afficianados alike would do very well to add this record to their libraries, allowing themselves an inspiring chance to hear how a Sister church of Rome offers honor & praise to the Almighty. The production is first-rate, the sound is crystal clear and the singing of Sr. Marie Keyrouz is absolutely gorgeous. A great oppurtunity comes very soon, as Amazon.com will shortly offer a mid-line import re-issue of this wonderful disc. Be kind to yourself & give this cd a listen. You will be mesmerized!

however, I am not a big fan of Sr. Mary Keyrouz and her voice is the lead in every Chant on this disk. A bit bland compared to other religious chant CD's on the market. The only reason I gave this CD 3 Stars is because it is accurate in it's presentation of Eastern Rite (Maronite) Chant.I much prefer and would recommend without any reservation whatsoever the CD, "Chants of the Maronitic Liturgy" by Prof. Louis Hage and P. Paul Rouhana over this album.
