It s as if they are reading the Bible for the first time!

Bible Reading made simple!

I began reading the bible at least 3 times in the past, and on each occasion I did not get very far due mainly to the fact that I found certain parts very hard to understand.
Recently I heard about the Expositor's Bible, and decided to have a look inside (an Amazon feature) before buying. I was immediately caught up in the simplicity and clarity of the explanations, and was so taken with the preview, that I became frustrated that there wasn't more of it to read.
I placed my order there and then, and have not had a single day of regret since my bible arrived. I find it so engrossing that it's hard to put down once I begin reading it.
Reading the bible no longer seems daunting and distant.
I have since ordered one for a sister, and am about to place an order for a nephew. In addition to this, another relative also bought one after my recommendation.
It's simply wonderful!

This review is for the Giant Print edition of the Expositor's Study Bible.
First, understand that this is a very conservative Study Bible that takes a literal view of scripture, and has doctrines that generally agree with a Pentecostal approach to scripture. If you take a more liberal, less literal, view of scripture--you probably will not like this Study Bible. But if you have an Evangelical, and especially a Pentecostal approach to scripture, you will find yourself in general agreement with the exposition notes. It is worth keeping in mind that you should not expect to agree 100% of the time with any Study Bible. Having said that, the Expositor's Study Bible is a powerful study tool that gives a huge amount of exposition throughout the text. Indeed, very often the exposition is two or three times longer than the verses being expounded upon. The exposition directly follows the verses, and I like that. It is nice to not have to squint down at tiny print on the bottom of the page to find the commentary. This is a Giant print Bible, but keep in mind that there is a huge amount of exposition added to the scriptures, so this Giant print is actually around 12 to 13 point font size. Not exactly "Giant", but about what I expected for such a great amount of text. The Giant Print Expositor's Bible is very big in size, not something you want to tote to Sunday School. There is a regular size print version with a leather cover if you do not need the larger print size.
Other features in the Expositor's Bible include a concordance, some very nice, large, color maps, and a few other study helps. But the important thing about this Bible is the great amount of exposition throughout the text. The Bible version is the King James Version, with some updated language, such as "ye, thee, thy, Hast, etc." changed to modern wording. The KJV text is black ink, with the the Expository comments following each verse in red ink.
While I may not agree with 100% of the exposition notes, I find them thought-provoking, and that I generally do agree with them. This is a useful Bible for someone who knows almost nothing about scripture, and needs help in understanding God's word. It is also useful for comparison for those of us who have studied God's word for years.
I give it 4 out of 5 stars because Giant Print Study Bibles are rare to begin with, and Bibles with this kind of Exposition are rarer still. A very useful Bible.
